Engineering sector is at the forefront of sector-based transactions
The engineering sector topped the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) sector-wise transaction in the outgoing week. The sector accounted for 12.3% of the total transactions on the DSE last week.
According to EBL Securities, one of the top brokerage firms in the country, the textile sector is at the second place with 12% turnover in the current week. The financial sector is in the third place with 11.7% transactions.
Other sectors listed include 10.3% in miscellaneous, 8.2% in pharma, 7% in banking, 5.9% in food, 5.2% in IT, 5% in cement and 4.8% in general insurance. Life insurance 3%, paper 2.8%, tannery 2%, travel and leisure 1.5%, mutual funds 1.4%, telecommunications and services 1.1%, ceramics 0.6% and 0.1% transactions have been made in the jute sector.
